Mrs. Davidson’s dishwasher suddenly broke down, so she called in a repairman for help.
Since he couldn’t schedule her for the evening and she had work the next morning, Mrs. Davidson gave him instructions:
“I’ll leave the key under the doormat. Please fix the dishwasher, leave the bill on the counter, and I’ll mail you a check. Don’t worry about my dog — he’s harmless. But whatever you do, don’t speak to my parrot!”
The repairman showed up the next day. True to her word, the dog was calm and barely moved from his spot. The parrot, however, was another story.
From the moment the repairman walked in, the bird hurled insults, shouted nonstop, and made his job unbearable. Finally, at the end of his patience, the repairman yelled back:
“Be quiet, you crazy bird!”
The parrot went silent for a moment… then called out in a loud, clear voice:
“Sic him, Rex!”
That was all it took. The once-quiet dog sprang to life, chasing the repairman right out the door.
