Queen Camilla and Princess Kate Host Melania Trump in Windsor

During the second day of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump’s state visit to the United Kingdom, the couple took separate paths for different engagements.

President Trump departed Windsor Castle aboard Marine One to meet with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Chequers, the official country residence in Buckinghamshire. Meanwhile, First Lady Melania Trump stayed behind at Windsor Castle for a private meeting with Queen Camilla. The two toured the Royal Library to see Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, described by the Royal Collection Trust as “the largest and most famous dolls’ house in the world.” Built between 1921 and 1924 for Queen Mary of Teck, King Charles’ great-grandmother, the house captivated both the queen and first lady. During the visit, they also spoke with children who were visiting the library.

Later, Princess Catherine, Princess of Wales, hosted Melania at Frogmore Gardens for a first joint outing. The event highlighted the UK’s Scouts program, where children participating in the Squirrels initiative earned their “Go Wild” badge by exploring nature alongside Chief Scout Dwayne Fields.

Kate, who was a Brownie in her youth and has served as Joint President of the Scout Association since 2020, shared her personal connection to nature. She revealed that during her chemotherapy treatment for cancer in 2024, nature became an important source of comfort, and she is now in remission.

At the Frogmore Gardens event, a young girl led Melania to a table where children were constructing “bug hotels” out of cardboard. When asked about her favorite bug, the first lady replied, “a ladybug.” Princess Kate was also seen sitting on the grass with children, reviewing and discussing their artwork.

Both women joined in group games, including parachute activities and soccer, engaging with the children in a lively and hands-on experience.
