A recently dismissed Democratic National Committee (DNC) vice chair, David Hogg, was caught on hidden camera candidly discussing former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s stock trading activities. The clip, published by Project Veritas, has already caused a stir.
In the footage, Hogg tells an undercover journalist, “I’d say Pelosi is highly skilled in her position. But I don’t agree with the stock trading — she’s outperforming most of the city’s hedge funds.”
He went on to note that some of these trades are “a little too perfectly timed to be purely coincidental,” suggesting members of Congress might be leveraging insider information.
Pressed on whether he had used his DNC platform to address congressional stock trading, Hogg admitted he’d only spoken up cautiously because he feared it might undercut efforts to advance gun control policies.
“I want to fight these corrupt practices,” he said, “but you have to choose your battles wisely.”
Hogg rose to prominence as a gun control activist after the Parkland school shooting. His combative style put him at odds with Democratic leaders earlier this year when he threatened to back progressive candidates against moderate Democrats.
The DNC had to consider new rules to limit vice chairs from endorsing primary challengers. But before those rules took effect, the DNC Credentials Committee decided Hogg’s appointment as vice chair was against party rules. Despite Hogg’s objections, the committee named new vice chairs, which he believes was retaliation for his challenges to party leadership.
In a separate conversation with Project Veritas, Hogg reiterated that while Pelosi is “actually very good at her job,” he opposed “the stock trading stuff.”
When the reporter asked if this trading could explain how Pelosi amassed such wealth, Hogg said it likely did — and that banning congressional stock trading wouldn’t be politically feasible.
The first part of Project Veritas’ undercover series also featured Hogg saying former President Joe Biden wasn’t really in control during his presidency.
Hogg alleged that Anthony Bernal, Jill Biden’s chief of staff, was the real power broker, wielding massive influence behind the scenes. “He had an incredible amount of power at the White House,” Hogg said, adding that staffers were “afraid” of crossing him.
